Khatuna Razmadze-Mebaduri was born in 1962.

In 1986 she graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and became a member of the Union of Young Artists. In the same year she also started working at Professor Givi Kandareli’s art studio. Since then she has been an active participant on the local and international exhibition scene.

In 1989 she took part in the 3rd International Textile Symposium, in Riga, Latvia.

In 1994 Khatuna was appointed assistant to Professor Givi Kandareli. As a result, she began to give lectures on composition at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and work with post-graduate students.

From 1996 to 2008 Khatuna Razmadze had been working at the Tbilisi State Cultural University as an associated professor of painting.

Since 1998 she has been a senior research worker at the Tapestry and Art Textile Museum within the State Art Academy.

In 2004, Khatuna and colleagues established the Georgian Art Union. It aims to develop and popularize all fields of Georgian art. A current project is to put together a comprehensive directory of all artists and cultural institutions working in Georgia, irrespective of their medium. The Union also aims to spread the word about Georgian art internationally via brochures, books and catalogs, which will advertise art markets, exhibitions, symposiums and other cultural events happening throughout Georgia.

Since 2005, Khatuna has been a member of the Georgian Artists Union.

Since 2008, she has been working as the Gallery Administrator of the Tapestry and Art Textile Museum.

In 2015 Khatuna was appointed co-representative of IWS – Georgia (International Watercolour Society – Georgia).

 

Khatuna Razmadze-Mebaduri works in the following mediums: graphics, watecolour, oil painting, tapestry, textile design and cloisonné enamel.

In 2004, at Tbilisi’s Christmas Festival of Visual and Applied Arts, she was awarded “Best Work of the Year” for her tapestry “In Soul”.

The works of Khatuna Razmadze-Mebaduri are kept in different private collections.
